Fertilizing your container-grown fig trees throughout the season is an important process to ensure healthy new growth and ample fruit production, but equally important is how to ramp down the fertilizing to discourage green growth late in the season and ensure a healthy transition into dormancy and winter storage. A healthy transition into dormancy is important to help prevent damage from cold temperatures, especially an early, unexpected frost and freeze. In this video, I outline the schedule that I am following to help my vigorous trees transition into dormancy. This schedule can easily be tailored for your unique climate.
